Schluter SCHIENE E Stainless Steel Tile Trim is designed to provide protective and decorative edging for tile coverings. Typical applications include edge protection where tile is bordered by carpet, at expansion joints, or as a decorative edging for stairs. This stainless steel tile from from the trusted Schluter brand is available from Tile Fix Direct in 8mm, 10mm, 11mm and 12.5mm internal height sizes, all in 2.5 metre long lengths.
Schluter SCHIENE E Stainless Steel Tile Trim features a trapezoid perforated anchoring leg, which is secured in the mortar bond coat beneath the tile, and an 87° sloped vertical wall section that transfers point loads to the substrate and surface covering while protecting tile edges from damage.
Schluter SCHIENE E Stainless Steel Tile Trim offers a discreet, minimum reveal which is ideal for creating elegant transitions between different floor coverings. This prevents tiles from chipping due to mechanical stress or impact, and is ideal for creating transitions on floors, where the tile installation is bordered by carpet or wood flooring.
Schluter SCHIENE E Stainless Steel Tile Trim is is roll formed using V2A (material 1.4301) stainless steel. Therefore, the profile’s contour differs slightly from the extruded brass or aluminium profile. The trim can sustain high mechanical stresses and is especially well suited for applications requiring resistance against chemicals and acids, e.g. in the food industry, in breweries, dairies, commercial kitchens and hospitals.
- Select the profile height according to the tile thickness and the installation method.
- Apply tile adhesive to the area where the tile covering will end, using a notched trowel.
- Press the trapezoid-perforated anchoring leg of the profile firmly into the adhesive and align it.
- Trowel additional tile adhesive over the trapezoid perforated anchoring leg to ensure full coverage.
- Fully embed the adjoining tiles and adjust them in such a way that the upper lip of the profile is flush with the tile. Note: The profile should not be higher than the tiled surface, but rather up to approx. 1 mm lower.
- The tile is set to the lateral joint spacer, which creates an evenly spaced joint of 1.5 mm. In the case of profiles without joint spacer, a joint of approx. 1.5 mm is recommended.
- Completely fill the space between the tile and the profile with grout.
